Katty is twenty and lives with her husband in a farming community near Kabala, a town in Northern Sierra Leone, which is surrounded by mountains. As a result of her rural location, medical help is far away and difficult to obtain. After two successful pregnancies, Katty became pregnant again and experienced obstructed labor, spending five days in labor. Her painful labor process resulted in a stillbirth and an obstetric fistula. Because of her painful injury, her village shunned her and were hostile towards her. Thanks to our donors and supporters, she received an obstetric fistula repair surgery!
