Meet Kadi!
Kadi is thirty-two years old and lives in a Gerehun refugee village in Eastern Sierra Leone with her supportive husband and family. Although she has had five pregnancies, she has no surviving children. Her children have died at ages one, three, four and five, and during her fifth pregnancy, she spent three days in obstructed labor. After her painful labor process, she finally gave birth to her stillborn child. Because of the obstructed labor, she developed obstetric fistula.

We met with Elena Tereshonok, the Investments Manager, and were excited to learn about Virgin Unite’s past experiences in helping to fight fistula in Nigeria with UNFPA, and get Elena’s insight into the fistula work we’re doing in Sierra Leone. Meet Gita
A few days ago, we announced our relationship with the WAFF and how the $25,000 we raised last year (thanks to your help!) has gone to fund surgeries for women in Sierra Leone, an impoverished West African nation (read article here). For the next few weeks, we’ll be presenting a story from each woman whose lives have been changed forever. Gita is just 15 years old, but she has been through so much as a young teen. She was living with her relatives in Ngalla Bomboya when she b
